The Chemical Fabrics and Film Association (CFFA; Cleveland), an international trade association representing manufacturers of polymer-based fabric and film products used in multiple industries, has launched a self-certification program for manufacturers and sellers of coated fabrics that meet CFFA Healthcare-201—Minimum Performance Standards for Vinyl-Coated and Other Chemical Coated Upholstery Fabrics for the healthcare environment (CFFA-HC-201B).
Products must pass all test methods within the program to be certified to CFFA-HC-201B. A new test method, Stain Resistance in Healthcare Environment, was developed to determine the resistance of the surface of coated fabrics used in healthcare to staining by transferable stains, including body fluids, and serves as a qualification test for healthcare applications.
Manufacturers and distributors may certify products and license the certification mark to identify those products. A list of certified products will be housed on the CFFA Performance Products website here.
