Perkins&Will (Chicago) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA; Washington, D.C.) released a white paper, “Creating a Culture of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Your Architectural Practice,” with best practices for U.S. architecture firms to create and implement comprehensive diversity programs.
Authors Gabrielle Bullock, principal, director of global diversity at Perkins&Will (Los Angeles), and Bill Schmalz, a member of Perkins&Will’s LGBTQ+ affinity group (Los Angeles), offer seven steps for firms to establish social and cultural competency, including articulating a vision, identifying a leader, establishing a network of partners, and developing tools to effect positive change at both the educational and professional levels.
More information on the white paper can be found on Perkins&Will’s website.
