The Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington, D.C., will be converted into an alternate care facility to treat COVID-19 patients who do not require intensive care, according to an article in Bisnow.

The three main halls of the convention center can accommodate 1,500 beds. The facility is scheduled to open in phases, with 500 beds available by the first week of May and another 1,000 beds completed by the end of May.

Hensel Phelps Construction Co. (Greeley, Colo.) will serve as the general contractor on the project.
