Integrated health system Marshfield Clinic Health System (Marshfield, Wis.) is planning to expand the obstetrics unit at Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire, in Eau Claire, Wis., with additional labor and delivery beds.
The unit will expand from eight beds to 20 beds, which is expected to accommodate an additional 550 yearly births if needed.
The project is in response to recently announced hospital closures in the area, including two Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System hospitals.
