Interior Health Aims To Redevelop Cariboo Memorial Hospital In British Columbia

Health authority Interior Health (Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada) is planning a $268 million expansion and renovation project that will add more than 100,000 square feet and three stories at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada.

Using a design-build model, the project will deliver a new emergency department and pharmacy, 36-bed medical/surgical inpatient unit, six-bed maternity unit, and mental health and substance-use inpatient unit with eight single-occupancy rooms.

Phase 1 will deliver the addition and is scheduled to begin in spring 2023 and wrap up in fall 2026.

Phase 2, which includes renovations to the existing hospital, is expected to begin in fall 2026 and finish in early 2029.

The project team comprises Stantec (designer, architect, and engineer; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and Graham Design Builders LP (construction; Delta, British Columbia, Canada).
