Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP; Philadelphia) is planning a new inpatient tower on its main campus in Philadelphia, according to the website phillyyimby.com.
The $1.9 billion, 1.4 million-square-foot facility is part of CHOP’s $3.4 billion development plan. The new inpatient tower will house eight diagnostic and treatment floors; 12 inpatient floors with 40 beds per floor; a special delivery unit for babies requiring care before, during and after delivery; as well as parking for approximately 200 cars. The design team aims to achieve LEED Silver certification.
It is scheduled to open in early 2028.
The project team includes Ballinger (designer; Philadelphia) and ZGF Architects (consultant and interiors/clinical architect; Portland, Ore.).
