Steward Health Care Melbourne Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla., has completed a 42,000-square-foot expansion and renovation project that includes four larger operating rooms (ORs), shell space with room to flex to four additional ORs, 19 prep and recovery bays, and a simulation laboratory.
The project also includes a one-story spinal and orthopedic surgical center of excellence, which connects to the hospital via an interior corridor and an outdoor covered walkway. An adjacent patio provides respite space for patients, staff, and family members.
Gresham Smith (Tampa, Fla.) provided architecture, interior design, and experiential design and wayfinding services for the project.
