USGBC Announces Regional Leadership Awards

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC; Washington, D.C.) has announced recipients of its 2021 USGBC Leadership Award, which recognizes notable green building projects, companies, and individuals focused on creating healthy, sustainable spaces over the last year.

Award recipients are categorized by region and include:

  • Kaiser Permanente, for its LEED Platinum-certified medical office building, which is tracking to achieve LEED Zero Energy and LEED Zero Carbon certification, Pacific region (Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington)
  • Gensler (Houston), for its leadership in sustainable, resilient, and healthy building solutions, Big South regions (District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia in the South Atlantic, and Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas in the South Central)
  • TLC Engineering Solutions, in recognition of its 20 years as a USGBC member and its roles in more than 450 LEED certified projects, Big South regions
  • University Hospitals of Cleveland Rainbow Center for Women and Children in Cleveland for becoming the first healthcare system in the state of Ohio to achieve LEED Platinum certification, East North Central region (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio)
  • New York-Presbyterian David H. Koch Center oncology center, the first project to earn LEED Healthcare certification in New York City and the first project in New York state to earn LEED Gold under the healthcare rating system, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast region (Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont).
