Geisinger Health And Acadia Healthcare Partner On Behavioral Health Projects

Geisinger Health (Danville, Pa.) and Acadia Healthcare Company Inc. (Franklin, Tenn.) have formed a joint venture to build and operate two behavioral health inpatient facilities in Pennsylvania.

The 73,000-square-foot facilities will house 96 beds each and provide comprehensive inpatient services for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and senior patients. The first facility in Moosic, Pa., is expected to open in 2022 and the second will be built in Danville and open in 2023. Geisinger and Acadia will invest $80 million in the projects.

As part of the project, Geisinger Health plans to consolidate inpatient behavioral health services from Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital in Bloomsburg, Pa., and Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa., to the new facilities and repurpose the vacated space for other patient care needs.
