Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Breaks Ground On New Building

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center (Johnstown, Pa.), member of Duke LifePoint Healthcare  (Brentwood, Tenn.), broke ground on a new project at the hospital’s main campus in Johnstown.

The 75,500-square-foot, three-story building will be situated behind the hospital’s clinical pavilion atrium and will centralize inpatient and outpatient cardiac services, including a vascular lab and offices, cardiac diagnostic center, and echo procedure rooms. The new building will be connected to several existing buildings on campus to support better wayfinding for patients and visitors and improve the coordination of services throughout the hospital.

Additionally, several surgical services will be centralized and modernized in the addition, including an expanded central sterile department. Inpatient and outpatient surgery components will be consolidated on one floor and a new ambulatory staging unit will create easier transitions for patients as they move from pre-op to surgery to recovery.

The new facility will also house expanded imaging services, such as an interventional radiology pre- and post-procedure holding room and inpatient radiography and fluoroscopy rooms. A new physician dining and lounge suite and expanded conference space are also planned.

The architect for the $79 million project will be Stengel Hill Architecture (Louisville, Ky.) and Massaro Construction Group (Pittsburgh) will provide construction services.

It is expected to open in 2023.
