Integrated healthcare delivery system Ballad Health (Johnson City, Tenn.) is planning a two-story expansion of Niswonger Children’s Hospital and a modernization of its neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), as well as a new pediatric emergency department at Ballad Health’s Indian Path Community Hospital (Kingsport, Tenn.).
The projects are part of a $60 million investment in a new pediatric care network, Ballad Health Niswonger Children’s Network according to an article in Becker’s Hospital Review. The network will be a regional system of healthcare and community services in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. It will include the Center for Perinatal and Neonatal Care and the Center for Pediatric Specialties, both at Niswonger Children’s Hospital (Johnson City, Tenn.).
