The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS; Little Rock, Ark.) broke ground on an $85 million surgical annex for orthopedics, physical medicine, and rehabilitation services in Little Rock, according to an article in nwaonline.com.

The 158,000-square-foot, four-story UAMS Health Surgical Hospital will house 24 private inpatient rooms, 12 examination rooms for orthopedic trauma, orthopedic oncology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, 12 operating rooms (ORs), and eight exam rooms and two procedure suites for pain management. Additional space for faculty and administrative offices for UAMS’ department of orthopedic surgery as well as educational space for orthopedic residents will also be included.

The project comprises Cromwell (architect; Little Rock), Davis Stokes Collaborative (architect; Brentwood, Tenn.), and Nabholz Construction (general contractor; Conway, Ark.).

The surgery center is scheduled to be completed by spring 2023.
