Memorial Health Opens Children’s Hospital In Georgia

Memorial Health (Savannah, Ga.) has opened a freestanding children’s hospital in Savannah, according to an article in Savannahnow.

The 90,000-square-foot Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah includes 50 patient beds, an 18-bed emergency department (ED), four operating rooms (ORs) with two induction rooms where parents can stay with their child as they prepare for surgery, imaging suite, and 14-bed intensive care unit (ICU). Patient rooms also include either a Murphy bed or fold-out couch for parents to stay overnight.

The $66 million project features design elements that reflect the local region and nature, including Savannah-themed icons to signal functional areas. For example, the surgery center is marked with a tree icon representing Savannah’s public squares while the pediatric ICU uses a sea turtle icon to reference the “Tybee Island” area.
