WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital Plans New Birthing Center In West Virginia

WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital (Morgantown, W.Va.), which is under construction, is planning a new birthing center, according to an article in 12 WBOY.

The birthing center will span the eighth floor of the new hospital, which is expected to be completed in summer 2021, and will feature 30 obstetrics rooms, seven of which will include birthing tubs, designated family space within patient rooms, and a family lounge.

In addition to the birthing center, the nine-story, 150-bed WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital will include pediatric and neonatal intensive care units; a pediatric acute care unit; private inpatient rooms; operating rooms, cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, and endoscopy facilities; pharmacy; pediatric imaging services; family resource center; and a medical office building.

The project team includes IKM Inc. (architecture and design) and Yates Construction (contractor).
