The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center East Hospital (Columbus, Ohio) celebrated the opening of a new outpatient surgery and imaging unit.
The $26 million project, which took 18 months to complete, involved renovating 11,800 square feet of the existing surgical area and adding 28,500 square feet. The outpatient surgery unit houses four operating rooms, including a hybrid operating room for interventional radiology procedures; 16 pre-op and post anesthesia care bays; a new imaging suite with CT, MRI, and digital X-ray technology; a waiting room; and private consultation rooms.
Surgery services in the new outpatient surgery unit include general, ear, nose and throat, gynecology, urology, colorectal, plastic, orthopedic, and vascular.
