Non-profit cancer treatment and research center Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, Fla.) is planning a $400 million surgical hospital that will expand its patient capacity by 65 percent and allow for about one-third more procedures over the next decade, according to an article in Tampa Bay Times.
The 500,000-square-foot, 10-story project will start with 128 inpatient beds, with the capacity to expand to 400 beds, and house new operating rooms and additional machinery for MRIs and computerized tomography scans.
Situated on 20 acres, the plans also include a 26,000-square-foot utility plant, a three-story parking garage, and a bridge leading to the outpatient center.
The project team comprises construction firm Barr and Barr, Inc. (Tampa), real estate developer Hammes Company (Tampa), and construction firm Horus Construction Services, Inc. (Tampa), with the project expected to take about three years.
