In response to the coronavirus pandemic, construction been completed on a 450-bed hospital inside the Miami Beach Convention Center, in Miami Beach, Fla.
In less than two weeks, more than 250,000 square feet of exhibit hall space has been transformed into a field hospital ahead of anticipated peak of COVID-19 in South Florida. The design included 400 acute care patient rooms, 50 isolation rooms, nurses’ stations, and support areas.
The temporary hospital is a state and federal partnership. Other project team members include Robins & Morgan (construction; Orlando, Fla.) and RLF Architects (design and engineering; Orlando, Fla.)
