The David H. Koch Center For Cancer Care At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Opens

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has opened The David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

The 750,000-square-foot freestanding cancer care center houses numerous specialties, including hematologic oncology, interventional radiology, dermatology, endocrine, head and neck, pulmonary, and thoracic cancers, as well as phase 1 clinical trials, over 25 floors with 231 exam rooms, 110 infusion rooms, and 37 procedure rooms. The facility’s 16 inpatient beds feature private bathrooms and spaces for caregivers to spend the night. Amenities include a restaurant, cafĂ©, curated retail shop, and a terrace.

The building’s systems are designed to focus on reducing energy consumption and operating at optimal efficiency even in the instance of a 500-year flood event.

In concert with MSK Design, the project is a collaboration among Perkins Eastman Architects (New York), the medical planner and interior designer of clinical spaces, in association with Ennead Architects (New York); ICrave (New York), as experiential and interior designer of public spaces; Jaros Baum & Bolles (New York), MEP engineer; Thornton Tomasetti (New York), structural engineer; and Turner Construction Company (New York), construction manager.
